Agenda-motion to approve agenda offered by Joyce Durdel; seconded by
Harry Mead; passed
Minutes-motion to approve Annual Meeting minutes of March 30, 2013
offered by Harry Mead; seconded by Charlie Young; passed
Board Member reports:
Supervisor-L. Fitz-State of the Township report
Clerk-V. Gates-election May 6, 2014 for Baldwin School District voters
only; first year since on the Board that we have not had to amend the budget at
the end of the year
Public Comment:
Harry Mead stated, “The Board is finally getting off their hands and
finally starting to do something productive,” especially for the building
project, and “I appreciate it.”
Joyce Durdel offered applause for the Board concerning the building project
Salary Resolutions:
Supervisor-motion to raise the salary by $50/mo, or $600/yr , which
will be equal to $9100/yr offered by Harry Mead; seconded by Charlie Young;
passed
Clerk- motion to raise the salary by $50/mo, or $600/yr , which will be
equal to $11,100/yr offered by Harry Mead; seconded by Charlie Young; passed
Treasurer- motion to raise the salary by $50/mo, or $600/yr , which
will be equal to $12,100/yr offered by Harry Mead; seconded by Charlie Young;
passed
Public Comment:
Johnny Gates commended the Board for diligence and working through the
difficulties, he also offered a word of encouragement & caution to continue
to be careful in spending and watching the budget within the next twelve months
Charlie Young asked about the Trustees payments; it was answered that
the Trustees get paid per diem which is set by the Board in the budget

Agenda-motion to approve agenda with revisions (add Election
acquisitions, and County mapping to New Business) offered by J. Fairbanks;
seconded by B. Myers; all in favor
Minutes-motion to approve Annual Budget minutes from March 30, 2013, offered
by J. Fairbanks, S. Young seconded; all in favor

New Business:
Proposed budget for 2014-2015 fiscal year, beginning April 1, 2014
After review both by Board and Public, S. Young offered motion to approve
budgets as corrected, B. Myers seconded; all in favor by roll call vote
Election Commission (Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer): to appoint precinct
inspectors for the May 6, 2014 election: L. Fitz offered motion to approve the
following precinct inspectors (with a request that subsequent precinct
inspectors be citizens of Elk Township); B. Myers seconded; passed by roll call
vote
Inspectors: Vicki Gates, Pat Bishop, Bonnie Knysz, Johnel Buckingham, and
Ginni Gates
Election acquisitions: V. Gates discussed the need for more long term
ballot bags since we have three elections this year: J. Fairbanks offered
motion to purchase two long term official ballot bags @ $19 ea; L. Fitz
seconded; all in favor
J. Fairbanks offered motion to purchase election bag seals @ $10; S.
Young seconded; all in favor
After discussion concerning “crowd control” in new office space, L.
Fitz offered motion to authorize V. Gates to choose a crowd control system
(preferably made in the USA), for use during elections and office hours, up to
$150; J. Fairbanks seconded; all in favor
J. Fairbanks discussed the County mapping project, we will discuss more
at the May meeting
Public Comment:
Johnny Gates mentioned “food for thought on the trash debacle in Elk
Township” and suggested options to discuss at the May meeting: the new
Independent Rural Waste Company is more receptive to picking up trash, but it
would be easier to keep two trash collection sites (K&K and Luke’s Corners)
to be labeled for Elk Township Weekenders Only, and encourage other residents
to put their bags at their own residence and contact Independent for trash
pick-up
