"Since I'm going to be recalled, I think we need to go through with this (speaking of the building project). That's one of my reasons."-Frances Arquette
"The tools to complete a successful building project are not in place."-John Fairbanks
"We've talked about getting bids, and that hasn't been done...I'm not in favor of doing anything without having a lawyer look at this contract."-Carol Draper
"I would feel more comfortable having an attorney look at this (contract)."-Marilyn VanVleet
and last, but not least Jackie McKellar addressing Linda VanDolsen,
"You are not looking out for the best interests of the people."
At this meeting there was a motion made, and seconded, to stop this building project and to pay Steve Riggs what is owed to him at this time. The motion passed by roll call vote:
Frances Arquette-No
Carol Draper-Yes
John Fairbanks-Yes
Linda VanDolsen-Yes
Marilyn VanVleet-Yes
Therefore, the building project is stalled for now.

Our township supervisor has added new meaning to deceitfulness. After the May 10th meeting where a motion was passed to cease and desist with the building until the full board had an opportunity to review the “contract” and have it reviewed by an attorney, and some very heated remarks from the audience as well as from the board members, our supervisor showed just what lengths she would go to when backed up against a wall.
ReplyDelete1. Plan for a special meeting on the same day and time (Monday May 23rd at 8 am) as the County Commissioners meet. (Was she hoping that John Fairbanks would not attend the special meeting?)
2. Post the notice on the township hall board on the previous Saturday. (Was she hoping that no one see and read this?)
3. Supervisor “broke with precedence” and make a motion to abandon the current building project……… (How convenient that this motion comes just prior to the deadline to file a rebuttal with the county on the recall. Is she going to now say, see, I did listen to the voters and rejected the building project, no need to recall me now?)
4. How convenient that the contract had still not been reviewed by an attorney and the meeting with an attorney was not scheduled until after the June board meeting. (Would said attorney tell her that this contract was pretty open ended and full of problems and basically not legal?)
Our supervisor’s sarcastic, condescending, and unprofessional attitude toward the audience was appalling. And this was not the first meeting she showed this type of behavior. She needs to be reminded that she is there as a result of being elected by some of these people in the audience and needs to put her personal feelings aside and act professionally.
Our supervisor made the motion to abandon this project and get on with other township business. I fear that if she remains as supervisor that we can expect more of her deceit and sarcasms. I’m not sure if that is what the citizens of Elk Township want. When will the other shoe fall?
